Product Sampling

We are ready to begin sampling asset provenance tagging technologies from our chosen suppliers.

We begin work by submitting sample orders. This requires knowing real world dimensions for the assets.

I begin all my design efforts with pen and paper to get some rough dimensions out of my head. Once I get a sketch out, I go hunting for engineering samples.

NFC RFID Asset Card

I really enjoy shopping for technologies and techniques that will bring my sketches to life.  In the case of the Smart Asset Card, I will need to combine different materials, technologies and processes to reach the desired size, performance and operational design I feel will benefit the art community.

Here I will be combining NFC/RFID technology, with card stock, lamination film, acrylic and tamper evident 3D adhesives. This provides transmissibility of NFC and RFID information from a specific distances for gallery use. It allows a visual in person as well as digital authenticity of the art work.  Lastly, a tamper evident 3D hologram will identify if the smart asset card information has been tampered with.

Hologram

We use custom holograms that are customized with the 85mm.ca logo, serial number and taggant.

Hidden text/image/logo

  • Microtext (requires 12.5x magnification to read)
  • Nanotext (requires 75x magnification to read)

Covert laser readable image (visible with laser pen)

Taggants

For higher security applications, we use security features combined with the hologram for added security. A hologram provides visible overt anti-counterfeiting protection; while the taggants are hidden and invisible to the naked eye. They can only be detected by hand-held devices.
